Modern airplanes enable us to cover long distances within hours,which not long ago required weeks or months of travelling. However,instead of gaining time todays flat world leaves us with the impression of non-stop movement. Dr. Richard Hausmann,a top German executive living in China,recently managed to break out from the rat race. Behind the steering wheel of a 1949 built VW Beetle,he spent several weeks driving from Erlangen,Germany,to Beijing,China and finally discovered the meaning of slowness.
