Description:
Welcome to CANCER 2009, the International Cancer Conference. This year we celebrate our 7th Anniversary and have assembled a comprehensive high quality program (www.cancerconference.ie) with international renowned leaders coming together to highlight the latest developments and challenges that we face to deliver 21st Century Medicine to Cancer Patients. The Theme of this year’s conference is “Enhancing Cancer Cure through Patient focused Healthcare and Research”
CANCER 2009 ProgrammeCANCER 2009 will address key issues in cancer strategy, cancer care and cancer research, placing the patient at the centre of a focused interdisciplinary approach aimed at improving cancer outcomes. The Conference will discuss the key priorities at national and international levels, identifying appropriate solutions based on best international practice and examining how we can appropriately embed research within our health service. Embracing all stakeholders allows the delivery of the best care for cancer patients. This showcase of national and international leaders will critically review the latest developments in translational cancer research, cancer systems, healthcare economics, radiation oncology and molecular imaging, cancer nursing, cancer biology and molecular medicine, providing the ideal forum to discuss these important issues and highlight advances that have been made. As you can see, this Conference has something for everyone and I would encourage you and your colleagues to make a significant effort to attend this premier event. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my fellow members of the Scientific and Organising Committees who have made this possible, together with the support received at corporate level both in St James’s Hospital and Trinity College Dublin. I would also like to acknowledge the generous support of our sponsors. St James’s Hospital and Trinity College Dublin are committed to Cancer Care and Cancer Research; this conference represents a significant commitment to this aspiration. I am extremely enthusiastic about the quality of the program and look forward to meeting you all in Dublin.
