| Description of Content | 5 compulsory practicals, including an industrial practical (30 credit points (CP)), 6 optional practicals with a maximum of two laboratory practicals (36 CP), 3 lectures (18 CP), 1 seminar (6 CP), master thesis (30 CP), total 120 CP Working on one's own initiative will be particularly important for the laboratory practicals, industrial practical and Master's thesis. Outstanding support is provided by the excellent instructor-to-student ratio. Additional advice is provided by the coordination office. |
| Tuition Fee | Up to EUR 650.- per semester Enrolment Fees of EUR 160.- per semester, including a ticket for the public transportation system in Bonn, Köln (Cologne) and its surroundings. |
| Cost of Living | We recommend a budget of around EUR 650.- per month for accommodation, cost of living, health insurance, books and miscellaneous expenses. |

| Admission Requirements | Language Requirements: TOEFL total score 550, computer TOEFL total score 213, IELTS overall band score 6.0 Academic/Other Requirements: A pertinent first university degree qualifying for a career (Bachelor, Diplom, State Examination) in one of the disciplines: agricultural science, biochemistry, bioengineering, biology, biotechnology, chemistry, nutrition, food-chemistry, food technology, medicine, pharmacy (2nd part of the pharmaceutical examination), dentistry or equivalent degree. Practicals of 80 hours each in the subjects biochemistry, molecular biology (molecular genetics), microbiology, and cell biology. |
| Set of Competences to be Acquired | Focused on practical knowledge on an outstanding scientific level, the programme provides graduates of selective medical or natural-scientific disciplines with wide-ranging certified biotechnological skills in identification, characterisation and production of target molecules. The curriculum guarantees biotechnological specialisation on a wide basis. Further topics are the legal framework, systematic economic utilisation of the scientific results, and the competent and critical participation in the discourse on the ethical and social dimensions of biotechnology. |
