GOP Candidates: Gays "Taken Care Of" in Military [Dispatches from the Culture Wars]

Here's a couple of Republican candidates in Tennessee warmly reminiscing about the good old days when a gay soldier was "taken care of" in precisely the wrong way:

Kirkland, a Vietnam veteran, said of his time in the military: "I can tell you if there were any homosexuals in that group, they were taken care of in ways I can't describe to you."
