Unit: EngineeringCategory: Managerial/ProfessionalOpening Date: 09/28/2012Description:Working directly with faculty and senior staff, the incumbent will be responsible for the development, maintenance and management of the instructional laboratory needs for the School of Engineering with ultimate responsibility for laboratory support in engineering fundamentals and mechanical engineering courses. Responsible for planning and developing laboratory components of School of Engineering courses in consultation with cognizant faculty members, and for coordinating and documenting the assessment of lab-related learning outcomes in the context of the program accreditation objectives. Handle the day-to-day operations of the Engineering laboratories with primary duties including lab equipment setup and teaching safety and the proper use of equipment to students and faculty. Responsible for the maintenance of equipment inventory and repairs as needed and coordination of laboratory availability for associated courses with the Academic Support Manager in the School of Engineering.Qualifications: M.S. degree in an Engineering discipline. Knowledge Skills Basic knowledge of C, C++, Java and Nl LabView. Understanding of technical drawings and schematics. Demonstrated independent organizational and project management skills including the ability to coordinate and prioritize a diverse workload, set and meet competing deadlines and establish systems to effectively manage projects and other information. Requires effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to set up and operate National Instruments (NI) LabView software, data acquisition and analog inputs/outputs devices. Understanding of electrical drawings and capacity to build controller boxes to interface computer, Nl analog inputs/output devices with a variety of tools including robotic arms, mills, DC motors and Thermal feedback controls. Knowledge and use of Pro/Engineer, SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
