Union University's student dining hall has been renamed the Brewer Dining Hall in honor of Maggie Nell Brewer, Union's longtime vice president for student affairs.

Schlafly Brewery owner Tom Schlafly will discuss his new book, "A New Religion in Mecca: Memoir of a Renegade Brewery in St. Louis," during the Fontbonne University/KMOX Book Club, March 29, 7 p.m., at New Town at St. Charles (take 270 to 370 to Elm/New Town Boulevard). A tasting of Schlafly beers will be held at the reading.
Since she was a little girl watching her mother teach, Amanda Brewer knew she wanted to spend her life teaching special education. To that end, she went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in special education from the University of West Florida in 2007, and now teaches special ed. at Pea Ridge Elementary.
