The 2010 Chancellor’s Cup was held at the Glendale Golf and Country Club on June 21st. The day was filled with beautiful weather, a hoard of volunteers and staff and included 200 golfers. The 18 holes, with three liquor holes, were hosted by different facilities at the university and provided knowledgeable entertainment for the golfers. Faculty of Extension participated again this year, and presented the theme Extension Brings the World to the U of A. Focusing on International Students, Extension highlighted the top five out of 50 countries that students outside of Canada come from, which include China, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Japan and Mexico. Extension volunteers served margaritas and taught the participants how to participate in the dart-like map game that highlighted important facts about the faculty’s international students. Golfers told success stories from their own personal experiences with Extension, including a golfer that said, “If it wasn’t for Extension and CACE [Certificate in Adult and Continuing Education], I would have never had the courage to return to Graduate School after being out of university for 30 years.” Chancellor Linda Hughes visited the Extension hole, along with Vice-President of External Relations, Debra Pozega Osburn. The day turned out to be a complete success for not only the Faculty of Extension, but for the University of Alberta’s Senate Office and all the golfers that participated.
