Dr. Kat has a Doctorate from the Institute for the Advanced Study of Human Sexuality where she's an Assistant Professor, in addition to instructing at many other colleges. Her professional affiliations include this American Association of Sex Educators, Experts, and Therapists, the Society for the Scientific study of Sex, and the American Table of Sexologists. She received a Master's level in Counseling Psychology and completed some sort of postgraduate degree in Marriage, Family and Addictions Recovery Therapy in 1997. She's also a certified yoga instructor.

Dr. Kat holds additional certifications in Sex Education and Erotology and runs a personal practice and consulting business in Hawai'i. She's been featured in many sexuality and relationship oriented websites, magazines and on television as ones friendly "sofa sexologist" in her Sex Chat with Dr. Kat podcasts.
