Jordan (Arabic: al-'Urdunn), officially the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, is a country in Western Asia spanning the southern part of the Syrian Desert down to the Gulf of Aqaba. Jordan shares borders with Syria to the north, Iraq to the northeast, Saudi Arabia to the east and south, the Gulf of Aqaba to the southwest, and Israel and the West Bank to the west. It shares control of the Dead Sea with Israel. Much of Jordan is covered by desert, particularly the Arabian Desert; however the north-western area, with the Jordan River, is regarded as part of the Fertile Crescent. The capital city of Amman is in the north-west. During its history, Jordan has seen numerous civilisations, including such ancient eastern ones as the Canaanite and later other Semitic peoples such as the Edomites, and the Moabites. Other civilisations possessing political sovereignty and influence in Jordan were: Akkadian, Assyrian, Judean, Babylonian, and Persian empires. Jordan was for a time part of Pharaonic Egypt, the Hasmonean Dynasty of the Maccabees, and also spawned the native Nabatean civilisation which left rich archaeological remains at Petra. Cultures from the west also left their mark, such as the Macedonian, Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman Turkish empires. Since the seventh century the area has been under Muslim and Arab cultures, with the exception of a brief period when the west of the area formed part of the Crusader Kingdom of Jerusalem and a short time under British rule. The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is a constitutional monarchy with representative government. The reigning monarch is the head of state, the chief executive and the commander-in-chief of the armed forces. The king exercises his executive authority through the prime ministers and the Council of Ministers, or cabinet. The cabinet, meanwhile, is responsible before the democratically elected House of Deputies which, along with the House of Notables (Senate), constitutes the legislative branch of the government. The judicial branch is an independent branch of the government.
William Brian Jordan, Baron Jordan, known as Bill Jordan, CBE, (born 28 January 1936), is a British economist and politician.

T. H. Jordan was a member of the silver medal winning French cricket team at the 1900 Summer Olympics, the only time to date that cricket has featured in the Olympics. He opened the batting for France in the only game against Great Britain, scoring 11 in the French first innings and a duck in the second.
Pat Jordan was a British Trotskyist who was central to founding the International Marxist Group. He had been a full time organiser of the Communist Party of Great Britain in Nottingham who had left the party with Ken Coates after the 1956 Soviet invasion of Hungary.
The name Jordan can refer to several things. As a name, it comes from the Aramaic Yarden, meaning "one who descends," and assimilated into Latin as Jordanus (or Jordana for a female).
Vernon Eulion Jordan, Jr. (born August 15, 1935) is a lawyer and business executive in the United States.

Abstract: This paper explores the effect of initial weight selection on feed-forward networks learning simple functions with the back-propagation technique. We first demonstrate, through the use of Monte Carlo techniques, that the magnitude of the initial condition vector (in weight space) is a very significant parameter in convergence time variability. In order to further understand this result, additional deterministic experiments were performed. The results of these experiments demonstrate the extreme sensitivity of back propagation to initial weight configuration. Back Propagation is Sensitive to In...
Abstract: Abstract A new method has been developed for the prediction of transmission loss in troposcatter communication system. The proposed method is based on the wide-sense stationary uncorrelated scattering channel model of the troposphere. The delay power spectral density function (DPSDF) of the received signal has been constructed. The received power which is the integral of the DPSDF; has been computed numerically. From the relationship between the transmitted and the received power; the transmission loss can be predicted. Five troposcatter links with different meteological conditions have been ...
Abstract: The present geochemical analyses of Zn, Pb and Cd in eighteen subsurface sediment samples collected from two locations along the Jordan River show that Cd is anthropogenically enriched in these sediments. In the sediment column, the concentration of Zn, Pb and Cd decreases clearly with depth in the first location of the upper reach, due to the high rate of sedimentation in this location; whereas the enrichment of elements of the lower reach increases gradually towards the old sediments. The Anthropogenic factor of the studied metals lies in the sequence of Pb>Cd>Zn.
Abstract: This paper investigates various aspects of the application of the Jordan canonical form of a matrix in system theory and develops a computational approach to determining the Jordan form for a given matrix. Applications include pole placement, controllability and observability studies, serving as an intermediate step in yielding other canonical forms, and theorem proving. The computational method developed in this paper is both simple and efficient. The method is based on the definition of a generalized eigenvector and a natural extension of Gauss elimination techniques. Examples are included f...

Abstract: Abstract This paper deals with some aspects of the derivation of sampling theorems for sequency (Walsh domain) bandlimited signals. First, the deterministic case is treated rather briefly to arrive at a useful interpolation (reconstruction) formula. Next, it is shown that a sampling theorem for the stochastic case can be proved in a straightforward manner via this interpolation formula.
Abstract: Bulinus truncatus snails collected from water bodies of the South Shuna region, north of the Dead Sea, were found infected with a pharyngeal longifurcate distome cercaria. This new form of cercaria is named Cercaria bulini I. It has three pairs of penetration glands, 12 pairs of flame cells, and lacks the intestinal cecae. This cercaria is an active swimmer and develops within an elongated sporocyst. Other details on the morphology, behavior, and development of C. bulini I are presented.
