David Wilkinson described four modes of leadership in his 2006 book, The Ambiguity Advantage.
Synthetic modes are modes that are not derived from the major or minor scales. Whereas the seven major modes, along with harmonic and melodic minor modes are all derived from the same scale and therefore can coincide with each other (i.
Rhetorical modes (also known as modes of discourse) describe the variety, conventions, and purposes of the major kinds of writing. Four of the most common rhetorical modes and their purpose are exposition, argumentation, description, and narration.
CPU modes (also called processor modes, CPU states, CPU privilege levels and other names) are operating modes for the central processing unit of some computer architectures that place restrictions on the type and scope of operations that can be performed by certain processes being run by the CPU. This design allows the operating system to run with more privileges than application software.

Blend modes in digital image editing are used to determine how two Layers are blended into each other. The default blend mode in most applications is simply to hide the lower layer with whatever is present in the top layer.
In mathematics, there are many senses in which a sequence or a series is said to be convergent. This article describes various modes (senses) of convergence in the settings where they are defined.
The modes of persuasion are devices in rhetoric that classify the speaker's appeal to the audience. They are: ethos, pathos and logos.
Generally, Security modes refer to information systems security modes of operations used in mandatory access control (MAC) systems. Often, these systems contain information at various levels of security classification.
Abstract: Polyomavirus late mRNAs contain multiple copies of a 57-nucleotide leader sequence derived by splicing from multigenome-length late transcripts. Inefficient termination of transcription and inefficient polyadenylation allow accumulation of these giant transcripts. In this report, we show that a viable mutant virus, ins5, which contains an efficient rabbit beta-globin polyadenylation signal, produced late mRNAs whose vast majority contains only one leader. ins5 virus nevertheless produced as much late mRNA as did wild-type virus and grew as well as did wild-type virus in mouse cells. These resu...
Abstract: Production of polyomavirus late mRNAs requires sequences near the 5' end of the leader but does not require leader-to-leader splicing. Lanoix J, Tseng RW, Acheson NH. Abstract: Polyomavirus late mRNAs contain at their 5' ends multiple, tandem repeats of a 57-base noncoding sequence, the late leader, whose sequence appears only once in the viral genome. Pre-mRNA molecules are processed by a pathway that includes the splicing of late leader exons to each other in giant, multigenome-length precursors which are the result of inefficient transcription termination. We have devised a method involving reverse transcription and the polymerase chain reaction to determine the number of tandem late leader units on polyomavirus late RNA molecules. Using this technique, we have sh...

Abstract: . The central task in practical problem solving is to identify and choose among alterative courses of action. Computer science has failed to provide adequate tools for supporting rational, effective and fair decision-making under the conditions which usually prevail. Especially, computer science has yet to develop models of rational decision-making in groups which adequately take into consideration resource limitations or conflicts of interest and opinion. This paper provides an informal overview of Zeno, a mediating system for supporting discussion, argumentation and decision-making in groups...

Abstract: Abstract With MOSFET scaling, increased design complexity, and multiple system power domains, ESD failures occur in internal core areas which are not connected to external package pins. A review of the various internal core device failure mechanisms and design recommendations are presented.

Abstract: Sixteen groups of male and female university students (N= 129) were tested in a 2 by 2 design which varied mode of leader selection (election vs. appointment) and desirability of leader role (desirable vs. undersiable). Desirable leader roles were created by offering $5.00 and extra experimental credit for extra work to be completed on the leader's own time. Leaders in undersirable roles had to complete the extra work without pay or experimental credit. After a warm-up task, a confederate was either elected or appointed leader. On two subsequent tasks the leader made three influence attempts o...
Abstract: Gene 8 of bacteriophage M13 codes for procoat, the precursor of its major coat protein. Gene 8 has been cloned into a plasmid and mutagenized. We have isolated mutants of this gene in which procoat is synthesized but is not processed to coat protein. We now describe mutants in the leader region of procoat, at positions -6, -3, and -1 with respect to the leader peptidase cleavage site. These positions are quite conserved among the leader peptides of various pre-proteins. Each of these mutant procoats is synthesized at a normal rate and inserts correctly into the plasma membrane, as judged by it...
Abstract: Self-sacrificing behavior of the leader and the extent to which the leader is representative of the group (i.e., group prototypical) are proposed to interact to influence leadership effectiveness. The authors expected self-sacrificing leaders to be considered more effective and to be able to push subordinates to a higher performance level than non-self-sacrificing leaders, and these effects were expected to be more pronounced for less prototypical leaders than for more prototypical leaders. The results of a laboratory experiment showed that, as expected, productivity levels, effectiveness rati...
