  • Abstract: High-resolution optical images have been obtained of IRAS 09371 1212 (the 'Frosty Leo' nebula). The images were taken with the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory/Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope (DAO/CFHT) High-Resolution Camera using broadband V and I filters and with an intermediate-band H-alpha filter. The red filters, particularly H-alpha show that the bipolar nebula is surrounded by a nearly spherical envelope of material approximately 30 sec in diameter. The high-resolution images allow a detailed study of changes in the nebular morphology with wavelength. The ansae remain stationary with ...

  • Abstract: Abstract This paper provides a background to modeling and simulation of a `little LEO' microsatellite communications system, which includes a brief introduction of the UoSAT microsatellites, its `store-&-forward' communications system, the experimental communications payload-the Digital Signal Processing Experiment (DSPE) and the in-orbit CPFSK/MSK modems experiments using PoSAT-1 DSPE. This paper concentrates on the modeling and simulation aspect of a research program to optimize the `little LEO' microsatellite communications system by modulation/demodulation using DSP techniques. • Venus - Sag Caldera 'Sachs Patera

  • Abstract: This image of Sachs Patera on Venus is centered at 49 degrees north, 334 degrees east. Defined as a sag-caldera, Sachs is an elliptical depression 130 meters (81 feet) in depth, spanning 40 kilometers (25 miles) in width along its longest axis. The morphology implies that a chamber of molten material drained and collapsed, forming a depression surrounded by concentric scarps spaced 2-to-5 kilometers (1.2- to-3 miles) apart. The arc-shaped set of scarps, extending out to the north from the prominent ellipse, is evidence for a separate episode of withdrawal; the small lobe-shaped extension to th...
