Group description
Karaite Judaism or Karaism (; ," or followers/seekers of "Biblical or Tanakh baised Judaism", from the Hebrew word for the Scriptures, 'Miqra' מקרא, from the root 'qara' קרא meaning “to read,") is a Jewish movement characterized by the recognition of the Tanakh as its religious authority. Karaites maintain that all of the commandments handed down by Moses were recorded in the written Torah, and that an Oral Law was not given at Mount Sinai.
