  • Abstract:  Media education is the dynamically developing field. Media pedagogy in Russia has essentially started to assert itself since the 1920s (when film education and education on the material of press developed rapidly). However it was only in 1986 that the term “media education” appeared in Russian publications, while in western European countries it has been familiar since late 1960s. The show is presented by Hiroko Goto of the Japan-based NGO Human Rights Now and Professor of Law at Chiba University in Tokyo. 20 Cooper Square, 5th Floor, Gallery Space, New York City On March 11, 2011 the earthquake and tsunami which occurred in Eastern Japan caused tremendous damage and resulted in numerous deaths. This earthquake also caused serious damage the TEPCO (Tokyo Electric Power Company) Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, exacerbating the disaster. Due to the damage at the power plant, it has been estimated that the amount of radioactive materials released is over 168 times that which was released by the atomic bomb in Hiroshima, and has created serious contamination across a broad area of Eastern Japan. Due to the evacuation orders issued to the people living in the vicinity, people lost their land, farms, beloved animals, and livelihoods. Moreover, it caused serious risks to people rights to life, health, and livelihood, and put in particular danger expecting mothers, infants, children and the young -- those most vulnerable to harm from radiation. They have not yet been paid their due wages. As per government regulations, their wages were supposed to be deposited into the savings accounts opened at the local post office. But most of the villagers have not even been given their passbooks and some are reported to have been paid in cash. There have been reports that people who have not worked on the project have been given the money instead. The villagers suspect that a major case of corruption is afoot involving the Block Development Office, The Postal Department and the officials of the MGNREGA. Community Correspondent Says: Community Correspondent Kamal Kishore Purthy was doing a social audit on the MGNREGA scheme as part of an NGO when he came across many such cases in Jharkhand where the workers have not yet received their wages. "It is easy to blame the corrupt officials but corruption is an age old story. We have to move beyond blaming corruption for all our woes and look at the broader picture," says Kamal. "If you have worked under MGNREGA scheme you are entitled to a compensation of upto Rs. 3000/- if your wages are delayed for more than 15 days. Das Straßenfest ist derzeit die einzige Wiener Veranstaltung die (einer Messe gleich) den Lesbisch- Schwulen- Bi- und Transgender (LSBT) NGO ́s die Möglichkeit der gemeinsamen und konzentrierten Präsentation bietet. Publikumsmagnet des Straßenfestes ist die Hauptbühne, auf der von 13.00 bis 19.00 ein buntes Kunst- und Musikprogramm stattfindet. Sie soll einerseits KünstlerInnen aus der LSBT Szene die Möglichkeit zum Auftritt und zur Eigenwerbung geben - zieht anderseits aber auch gerade BesucherInnen an, die „nur" zum Bummeln und Einkaufen auf der Mariahilfer Straße sind und sonst mit der Kreativität der Szene kaum in Berührung kommt. Als Rahmen, gibt es kulinarische Angebote sowie einen Sitzbereich. Der Bezirk Mariahilf präsentiert sich nicht nur als urbaner Innenstadtbezirk, der für seine hohe Lebensqualität und ausgezeichnete Infrastruktur bekannt ist, sondern als ein Bezirk, dem Offenheit und Toleranz wichtig ist!
