  • Abstract:  We consider the scenario of distributed data aggregation in wireless sensor networks, where each sensor can obtain and estimate the information of the whole sensing field through local data exchange and aggregation. The intrinsic trade-off between energy and delay in aggregation operations imposes a crucial question on nodes to decide optimal instants for forwarding their samples. The samples could be composed of the information from their own sensor readings or an aggregation of information with other samples forwarded from neighboring nodes. By considering the randomness of the sample arrival instants and the uncertainty of the availability of the multiaccess communication channel due to the asynchronous nature of information exchange among neighboring nodes, we propose a decision process model to analyze this problem and determine the optimal decision policies at nodes with local information. We show that, once the statistics of the sample arrival and the availability of the channel satisfy certain conditions, there exist optimal control-limit type policies which are easy to implement in practice. In the case that the required conditions are not satisfied, we provide two learning algorithms to solve a finite state approximation model of the decision problem. Simulations on a practical distributed data aggregation scenario demonstrate the effectiveness of the developed policies, which can also achieve a desired energy-delay tradeoff.

The rate-distortion theorem gives the ultimate limits on lossy data compression, and the source-channel separation theorem implies that a two-stage protocol consisting of compression and channel coding is optimal for transmitting a memoryless source over a memoryless channel. In spite of their importance in the classical domain, there has been surprisingly little work in these areas for quantum information theory. In the present work, we prove that the quantum rate distortion function is given in terms of the regularized entanglement of purication. Although this formula is regularized, at the very least it demonstrates that Barnum's conjecture on the achievability of the coherent information for quantum rate distortion is generally false. We also determine single-letter expressions for entanglement-assisted quantum rate distortion. Moreover, we prove several quantum source-channel separation theorems. She specializes in Psychic-type Pokémon. Psychics have a long running history of being crippled each generation due to their innate brokeness. Game Freak was like 'Nots to you, buddy!' towards their awesome and made them crappier over time. They usually have a ridiculous Special Attack stat and Speed, but Caitlin throws that down the drain and uses bulky Psychic-types, which makes this possible. I'm very glad to not fight another Lucian. No matter how bulky her Pokémon are though super-effective attacks can easily break anything. Durant is particularly useful here considering his super ant powers due to Hustle, STAB Bug Bite and Crunch. Dunno which one is stronger due to BlackGlasses but I think Bug Bite is the weaker one. Problem is, even with the Steel-typing, he takes massive damage from Caitlin's pokes because his Special Defense is atrocious. We have to avoid him taking damage at all costs. Caitlin opens with Reuniclus. It has a very varied movepool so not many things can switch in safely. I use Basculin as damage fodder (i can make up terms ok) so, after his death, Durant can easily KO with Crunch. Next is gothictrap. It has a very odd AI - sometimes it goes straight for a Thunderbolt, sometimes it uses Calm Mind then Thunderbolt, sometimes it uses Calm Mind twice in a row. I don't know why. In case of a motion system where the position feedback is an incremental encoder, the rotor position is yet unknown when the system is powered. This issue is overcome by forcing the rotor to move in a known position, usually motor A-phase. Though simple, the solution can cause large movements and can fail when the motor is positioned against a mechanical limit. The limitations of this starting method are more obvious in linear systems where the space is limited and the alignment can cause the motor to hit a mechanical limit. The new starting method allows Technosoft drives to determine the position of the rotor with minimal movement.
