Abstract: Abstract An oxidation apparatus is described which continuously records the volume of oxygen absorbed by a sample of oil, in a closed system, maintained at constant temperature and pressure. The apparatus is automated through the use of a specially devised liquid level probe and other ancillary equipment such as recorders, timers, and temperature controllers. The apparatus can be used to compare the relative oxidation stability of various lubricants over a wide range of operating conditions.
