    • Abstract:  Abstract A technique is described for generating a steady-state, well-behaved plasma discharge throughout a length of metallic waveguide without a dielectric container. The plasma is generated by a simple cold cathode discharge in helium and exhibits no instabilities or striations for an appreciable range of pressure and current.
