    • Abstract:  Abstract A system which employs an adaptive filtering technique to analyze the HPS signal on a beat-to-beat basis has been developed. This system requires the signal to be recorded on to tape first and subsequently analyzed using the LMS adaptive algorithm. It has been found that by using this technique, valuable information about microvolt signals of clinical interest can be obtained on a beat-to-beat basis. The authors describe development of this approach and present some clinical results to demonstrate the operation of the currently available system
