    • Abstract:  A method is presented for extracting hadron-neutron scattering amplitudes from hadron-proton and hadron-deuteron measurements within the framework of the Glauber approximation. This method, which involves the solution of a linear integral equation, is applied to pn collisions between 15 and 275 GeV/c. Effects arising from inelastic intermediate states are estimated.

I love science. The joy of discovery in pure research combines with applied science to leave me fantasizing about future technology. Add in the occasional WTF moment and the comedy inherent in poorly prepared presentations, and you have the perfect occupation. Unfortunately, science sometimes attracts people who pull the wings off a cockroach, pin it on its back, and stick electrodes inside it ...

UCLA players appear to have no qualms about trying to kick the struggling Trojans while they're down, and perhaps extracting a little revenge for Bruins' 50-0 football loss in the crosstown rivalry. UCLA's basketball team can claim one thing the football team can't. The Bruins held USC under 50 points.

State Sen. George Edwards, a Republican from Western Maryland, where shale gas deposits are likely, said it is well past time for the state to allow ...
