Bifidobacterium species are also used in the production of fermented dairy products and are believed to play a pivotal role in maintaining a well-balanced intestinal flora in healthy humans[2]. In order to investigate the primary genetic structure of a probiotic Bifidobacterium, the B. breve strain NCIMB 8807 was selected and random sequences were generated to give a coverage of about five fold.
