    • Abstract:  Data structures based on space- lling curves have shown to be a good approach in several applications. For the monitoring of moving objects, e. g. necessary for the contact detection in nite-element simulations, we need a special metrics to compare the quality of dierent curves.

            • When Should I Use Logarithmic Scales in My Charts and Graphs?
This post offers reasons for using logarithmic scales, also called log scales on charts and graphs. It explains when logarithmic graphs with base 2 are preferred to logarithmic graphs with base 10. It also explains several advantages that dot plots have over bar charts.
            • How Should I Label Log Scales in Charts and Graphs?
In ?When Should I Use Logarithmic Scales in My Charts and Graphs?, I showed the revenues of the top 60 Forbes 500 companies using both linear and logarithmic scales. The log scale spread out the bulk of the data that was compressed on the linear scale due to a few large values. The log scale also made it easier to make multiplicative comparisons.  The log scale has clear advantages for these ...

The logarithmic scale makes it nearly the most worthless chart ever. Worse than that is the fact that you're rehashing a post that was just on Business Insider a few days ago.

            • Another interactive way to scale the Universe | Bad Astronomy
I’m getting email and tweets about a Flash-based interactive tool where you can zoom in and out on the Universe, getting a scale of things from the tiniest fluctuations in the quantum foam of space to the size of the Universe itself. It’s done logarithmically, using factors of ten, and does a pretty good job. It’s called The Scale of the Universe 2 . It takes a few minutes to load, so be patient ...
