Abstract: Conference August 16-25, 2001 ?La bibliograf?a nacional debe presentarse de manera que satisfaga las necesidades de los usuarios.? Esta es una de las recomendaciones de la Conferencia Internacional sobre Servicios Bibliogr?ficos Nacionales (Copenhague, 1998), aprobadas por la Junta Profesional de la IFLA en 1999. En este siglo de realidad virtual, los usuarios esperan que la recuperaci?n de la informaci?n sea r?pida. Afrontar el reto de las necesidades de los usuarios es una tarea de dif?cil ejecuci?n. Lo que significa que una Agencia Bibliogr?fica Nacional (NBA) eficaz es responsable de crear lo antes posible los registros bibliogr?fico nacionales. Este art?culo describir? la forma de actuar con oportunidad tal como se hace en Suecia. La Biblioteca Real, o sea, la Biblioteca Nacional es una de las siete Bibliotecas que reciben el dep?sito legal de los impresores. Dicha ley es muy antigua, ya que un Real Decreto de 1661 cre? la Biblioteca como primera Biblioteca de dep?sito legal en Suecia. La Biblioteca Nacional tambi?n alberga a la NBA y el dep?sito legal es la base de los registros bibliogr?ficos nacionales, lo que es una garant?a para preservar la herencia cultural y para que los usuarios actuales y futuros accedan a la informaci?n.
